Music Video Blog Post 1

Toward the beginning of the music video project, I was slightly apprehensive about the song choice that we got. We first listened to the song to decide what type of video we wanted to use to accompany it. We decided that the fast paced nature of the song lent itself to a faster paced video. We decided to go with a full storytelling music video because the song had lyrics and a message of a man who wants his girl to talk to him after an argument.

To expedite the working process, the group and I decided to split the work up amongst ourselves. Jessie started to plan the website design, planned and created merchandise for our new artist, and was a part of the video for a short time. Victoria began planning the story board and the storyline for our music video, and began directing the music video. Rafi began planning and creating the slideshow, and starred in the music video as the main girl character. I began to plan the slideshow based on main points we needed to address, including media convergence and how our artist is promoted. I also began planning the editing of the video. To plan the slideshow, I placed comments on certain slides where I believed that information should go.

Moreover, we noticed that the song seemed to "glitch" in some parts. This was an artistic choice made by the original singer of the song. As the editor of the music video, I wanted to make sure that I incorporated jumps in time, skips ahead, and even some repeats of certain moments to embrace the glitchy nature of the song. When we finished planning and filming the video, I imported and organized the clips in order of their appearance in the film. That way, I would be able to easily access and place them where they needed to go.

To exemplify what I stated above, I have included pictures of our planning process below:
